Apology After Early-Morning Trains Cancelled

Written by on 5th August 2024

Network Rail has apologised after early morning train services from Market Harborough were cancelled because engineering work overran.

The tracks between Leicester and Kettering had been closed over the weekend and should have re-opened today in time for the first trains of the day to run.

Passengers were left having to wait for later trains.

A Network Rail spokesperson said: “We are sorry for the disruption caused this morning for passengers after our engineering work took longer than expected.

“The work was part of the Midland Main Line electrification work to repair drainage on two bridges in the area.”

The tracks were due to re-open at 5.15am, but it was 6.30am before East Midlands Railway was given the go-ahead to begin using them.
