Leicestershire Police Unable To Answer 999 Calls

An technical issue means Leicestershire Police cannot answer emergency calls.

All 999 calls are instead being diverted to Northamptonshire Police, while work takes place to fix the fault.

A statement released by the Leicestershire force reads: “We are currently having telephony IT issues, which means we are not currently able to take 999 calls.

“They will be diverted to our neighbors in Northamptonshire.

“Please only call 999 in a genuine emergency.

“We hope to resume normal service imminently.”

Northamptonshire Police says its control room is experiencing high demand while it takes emergency calls from both counties and is urging people with non-urgent issues are being urged to report them on-line.

The Leicestershire force suffered a similar technical issue in May.
