Decarbonising Desborough Leisure Centre

A sports facility in Desborough is set to receive Government and Council ‘decarbonisation’ cash if a proposed environmentally-friendly project gets the go-ahead this week.
Desborough Leisure Centre is one of three sites earmarked for funds by North Northamptonshire Council – which would see fossil fuel boilers replaced by air source heat pumps, new solar panels, and other energy-efficiency measures.
The authority has already been awarded its share of a ‘PSDS’ Government grant worth £3.8 million to ‘green up’ these buildings.
The total cost will be around £4.4 million – which includes similar improvements at Corby Cube and Corby Swimming Pool.
At their meeting this Thursday, the Council’s Executive is expected to approve stumping up the extra £600,000 needed to enable this work to proceed.
