Teacher Strike Called Off For Further Talks

A planned three-day strike by teachers at Rothwell Junior School has been called off to allow for talks with management.
Members of the NASUWT union were due to walk-out from next Tuesday in an on-going dispute over allegations of bullying, intimidation and excessive workloads.
It would have been the third strike this year and led to the school closing to nearly all pupils.
The action has been paused after Pathfinder Schools Trust brought in an outside body who specialise in supporting academy trusts, while senior members of its management are absent.
Richard Kempa, NASUWT’s secretary for the North Northamptonshire, told HFM this has promoted the action being paused:

The union says it reserves the right to announce more strike days in the future if a resolution is not reached.
A spokesperson for Pathfinder Schools said: “The Board of Pathfinder Schools has brought in temporary additional leadership capacity to ensure the trust has the right leadership support for colleagues at every level, during a period in which the CEO and CFO are absent.
“While the Board is confident that the quality of teaching, learning and enrichment offered to children has not been affected by these absences, they are having an unsustainable impact on our teams.
“Therefore the Board has invited Keystone Knowledge, who specialise in supporting academy trusts, to work with us for a short period, to alleviate pressures and give everyone the support they need.”
