Extra Funding Ahead Of Food Waste Collections Across Harborough
Written by HFM News on 31st May 2024
Harborough District Council has been given extra government cash ahead of the introduction of a food waste collection service.
The authority had expressed concern at the initial funding allocation and has now been handed an additional £120,000, taking the total amount to just over £1m.
The money will pay for new vehicles to collect food waste, along with storage caddies and containers which will be given to households.
The government has made it a requirement for all councils to provide such a service and it is likely to come into operation across the Harborough District in April 2026.
