Appeal After Teenage Girl Assaulted In Alleyway

Police are appealing for information after a teenage girl was grabbed and pushed to the floor by a man in Market Harborough.

The assault happened as the 17-year-old was walking along an alleyway off Auriga Street at around 9.45am on Friday.

The man fled when she screamed.

The victim was left shaken and with a minor injury to her knee.

The alley, adjacent to Little Bowden Recreation, leads to Britannia Walk and officers say extensive enquiries into the incident are on-going.

A spokesperson for Leicestershire Police said: “Officers were alerted to the incident and a search of the area was conducted.

“Extensive enquiries into the report are continuing and if anyone has any information they are asked to get in touch.

“Anyone with any information about the incident is asked to contact 101 or via www.leics.police.uk, quoting crime number 24*289469.”

Police have not released the suspect’s description, but say it has been circulated to local officers and increased patrols are being carried out in the area.
