Campaign Launched After Rise In Livestock Attacks

A new campaign has been launched by Police following an increase in dog attacks on livestock across Leicestershire.

Operation Recall is urging owners to ensure their pets are under control at all times and on leads when being walked near animals in fields.

Police are spreading awareness among dog owners

Livestock can be easily stressed by dogs leading to ewes aborting their lambs, while cattle and sheep are often chased which can result in serious injuries.

Signs have been erected in the countryside across Harborough alerting people to the issue and officers have been visiting places popular with dog walkers to raise awareness., including Foxton Locks.

Harborough District Community Safety Partnership is supporting the campaign and PC Lauren De Wet from Leicestershire Rural Policing Team spoke to HFM’s Nick Shaw about it:
