Concern As Shop Burglaries Continue In Market Harborough

Traders in Market Harborough are set to meet with police over a spate of burglaries and vandal attacks at shop and business premises.

The latest happened overnight at Ryman stationers in St Mary’s Place when intruders smashed through the front door, before stealing items including headphones, batteries, game cards and a charity tin.

Another burglary happened at Pizzaman in the Commons Car Park between 11pm on Sunday and 10am on Monday, when a brick was thrown through the door and a small amount of cash stolen from a till.

Earlier this month food store Cook in St Mary’s Place was broken into and the front door of Malibu Tanning Lounge was smashed, although no entry was gained.

The incidents have left shop and business owners concerned for their premises and a meeting is now set to be arranged so they can discuss their worries with Leicestershire Police.

Police have stepped up patrols in the town centre into the evening and overnight and say enquiries into the burglaries are continuing.
