Flags Stolen From Flagpoles In Market Harborough

Union flags have been stolen off flagpoles in Market Harborough’s Welland Park and Memorial Gardens.

Those responsible also cut the cable on the pole in the gardens meaning it will have to be replaced.

Paving below a bench that was recently pulled out of the ground and thrown in the river off Northampton Road has also been ripped up, in the latest of a series of vandal attacks in the town.

Sgt Pete Jelbert from Market Harborough Police Station told HFM patrols have been stepped up in a bid to find those responsible:

It is believed the latest incidents happened last night.

Cllr Knowles, Leader of Harborough District Council, said: “This is mindless vandalism and a total disregard for the community.

“We are working with the police and reviewing CCTV to catch the perpetrators.

“I would urge anyone with information to come forward as we cannot allow this to happen again.
