Christmas Switch-On Moves To Saturday

Written by on 2nd October 2023

Market Harborough’s Christmas lights switch-on will be held on a Saturday this year to encourage more people to be part of it.

The event, which in the past has been held on a Friday, will take place on November 18th and will coincide with a three-day food and drink festival on The Square.

Organised by Harborough District Council and to be hosted by HFM, it will also include free street entertainment with stilt walkers, fire breathers and jugglers and an appearance by Santa.

The festivities will take place from 5pm with the switch-on of the lights taking place at 7pm and the Christmas tree on The Square is once again being sponsored by Market Harborough Building Society.

Cllr Phil Knowles, Leader of Harborough District Council, said: “It’s very important that people know about the change of date for the Christmas lights switch-on event early so they can make a note to come along with their friends or family to join the festivities, perhaps combined with some shopping or a visit to one of the town’s fantastic cafes or restaurants.”
