Appeal After Woman Assaulted In Desborough

Police investigating an assault on a woman in Desborough are trying to trace people who went to her aid.

It happened at around 4.40pm on Sunday, when she was pushed a number of times by a man following an argument on Rothwell Road, near the pedestrian crossing close to Costa Coffee.

Officers say a number of people intervened, including a man who pulled the suspect away from the victim, aged in her 40s.

A 59-year-old man from Desborough has been arrested on suspicion of assault in connection with the incident and released on bail pending further enquiries.

A spokesperson for Northants Police said: “Officers would like to speak to anyone who helped the woman who has not already come forward.

“They would particularly like to hear from the man who helped her get free.

“Anyone with information about the incident, including relevant CCTV or dashcam footage, is asked to call Northamptonshire Police on 101.”
