Driver Seriously Injured In Crash On A14 Near Welford

A driver has been seriously injured in a crash on the A14 near Welford.

It happened near to junction one on the westbound carriageway just before 12.30pm and involved an HGV and a car, which then collided with the central reservation.

The car driver was taken to hospital by air ambulance, although Police say their injuries are not believed to be life-changing or life-threatening.

The driver of the HGV was not injured.

The westbound carriageway was closed while emergency services worked at the scene and the eastbound carriageway was also shut for a time, to allow the air ambulance helicopter to land.

The incident led to long tailbacks.
