Fallen tree to be removed as soon as possible

Harborough District Council is reassuring residents that what’s left of a large tree blown down into the Commons Car Park will be taken away as soon as possible.

Firefighters were called to the scene when it toppled from the banks of the Welland onto a parked vehicle during strong winds last Wednesday afternoon (12th April).

Although the trunk has been sawn off, and its top branches removed, the rest of the tree remains across the river and propped up against the car park wall.

A Council spokesperson has told HFM that its contractor is booked in for a site visit – with removal to follow within the next few weeks.
