A strategy which suggests re-introducing food waste collections has been approved by Harborough District Council.
It sets out how all Leicestershire councils will deal with waste and reduce the amount going to landfill between now and 2050.

A previous food waste collection service in Harborough district was scrapped in 2012 due to low usage and the strategy states it could only re-start with additional government funding.
The idea of free garden waste collections would also require significant funding.
All district and borough councils in the county are being asked to adopt the strategy, which has been put together following public consultation and comes ahead of expected changes in government policy on waste and recycling.
It was endorsed by members of the council’s Cabinet last night.
