Firefighters Vote To Strike ‘As Last Resort’

The union representing firefighters and control room staff across Leicestershire and Northamptonshire says they have voted to strike ‘as a last resort’.
The government and employers have ten days to improve their 5-percent pay offer, before the the Fire Brigades Union is expected to announce strike dates.
It would be the first walk-out by fire service staff in 20 years.

The FBU says the vote on industrial action follows more than a decade of real-terms pay cuts.
Adam Taylor, the union’s regional secretary for the East Midlands, spoke to HFM:
Both Leicestershire and Northamptonshire Fire & Rescue services say they are drawing up ‘contingency plans’ for if strike action takes place.
