Alert Issued After School Pupil Followed By Men In Van In Market Harborough

A warning has been issued after a Market Harborough school pupil was followed by two men in a van who had their faces covered.
It happened as they were walking home from Robert Smyth Academy along Fairway, off Fairfield Road between 3.20pm and 4pm yesterday and involved a grey van.
Students have been told about the incident today and given safety advice and parents and carers have been contacted.
A communication sent to parents and carers today from Principal Dan Cleary includes: “In response to this information and in recognition of the darker nights, we would strongly advise that parents ensure that if their child walks home that they do so with friends and along routes that are well lit.
“If you have safety concerns outside of school, then you should contact the police in the first instance as well as informing the school so that we can keep our community safe.”
Police have been informed of the incident.
It has not been revealed if the pupil was male or female.
