Go-Ahead For Former Village Pub To Be Turned Into House

Planning permission has been granted for the former village pub in Glooston to be turned into a house.

The Old Barn Inn in Glooston has been shut for over three years
The Old Barn Inn on Main Street has been closed since October 2019, but some residents objected to the plan, citing the loss of the village pub as an essential community facility.
They said it needed to be retained, as there are five surrounding villages with no pub or restaurant.
But developers told Harborough District Council there has been little interest in anyone taking on the business since it shut and permission has been granted for the change of use.
The plan includes extensions to the building and using land at the front of the property as a residential garden
Villagers have since set-up a pub night at the Village Hall every Friday.
