Re-Opening Of Kibworth Tip Put Back To Early Next Year

The re-opening of Kibworth tip after a major refurbishment has been put back to early next year.

Leicestershire County Council had initially hoped the recycling and household waste site would open late this year.

The facility on Harborough Road has been closed since last November for the improvement work costing £5m, meaning residents having to use alternative sites.

A council spokesperson told HFM: “Good progress is being made on the redevelopment of Kibworth Recycling and Household Waste Site.

“The site was closed in late autumn 2021 in order to upgrade the site to a new design that makes it easier for residents to recycle their household waste.

“The new site is taking shape with much of the groundwork already complete, the yard area formed, and the welfare building being built.

“To ensure long-term adherence to environmental standards, a further upgrade to the drainage system has taken place, and as a result we anticipate the new site to be open early in the New Year.”
