Praise For Harborough’s Ukrainian Refugee Hosts

Families across Harborough who have taken in Ukrainian refugees are being praised today.

New figures show 201 people who have fled the war in their home country are now staying in the district – the highest number in any area of Leicestershire.

Many have now found jobs in the local area and learnt English.

Cllr Phil King, Leader of Harborough District Council, spoke to HFM:

A special event will take place in Market Harborough next week to provide support and guidance to those who have relocated from Ukraine.

The ‘market-style’ drop-in event, being organised by Harborough District Council, will see a number of advice stalls hosted by organisations offering help.

There will be advice on jobs, housing, mental health, carers support, young people’s activities, adult learning, health and well-being, and local charities.

There will also be a separate room for children’s activities to allow parents to get the most out of the evening.

It will take place at the Methodist Church on Northampton Road between 5pm and 7pm next Friday, September 16th.
