Fault Hits EV Charging Points In Market Harborough

Written by on 1st September 2022

A technical fault is affecting some electric car charging points in Market Harborough town centre.

The problem is affecting chargers in the Angel Street, Doddridge Road and St Mary’s Road car parks, meaning they are only allowing charges for a limited period of time.

Initially charging was stopping after four hours, but Harborough District Council says it is now extended to eight hours as a temporary measure, until the issue is fully resolved.

The Council has apologised for the inconvenience and says in the meatime drivers needing charging for a longer period, should use the points in the Commons car park.

The chargers which have developed the fault were switched on in June to allow residents without off-street parking to charge electric cars overnight and for shoppers to use them during the day.
