Highway Bosses To Answer Questions About School Safety Scheme Trial
Written by HFM News on 5th August 2022
People can find out more about a safety scheme which will see the road outside a village school closed to traffic at drop off and pick-up times.
The first of two Drop-in sessions will take place on Wednesday at the Memorial Hall in Thurnby, for residents to ask questions and air any concerns.
The four-week trial will begin when children return to St Luke’s Primary after the summer holidays and could be rolled out elsewhere if successful.

Leicestershire County Council has already informed parents and residents in the areas, sending more than 1000 letters and leaflets to make people aware of the scheme.
Posters have also been put up on the affected roads.
Councillor Ozzy O’ Shea, cabinet member for highways and transport, said: “These engagement sessions will be a great way for us to help residents and parents prepare for the start of this trial when the new school year begins.
“I’d urge people to come along and ask any questions they might have so that we can make this trial as successful as it can be”.
The drop-in session on Wednesday (10th August) is on from 3.30pm until 6pm and again on Tuesday 16th August, between 9:30am-12:30pm at the Memorial Hali in Thurnby.
