HFM has been handed a Queen’s Platinum Jubilee award for what it does for the community.

The radio station is one of 70 winners across Leicestershire, each representing a year of Her Majesty’s reign.

Those to be recognised include schools, businesses and other voluntary and community groups, including in the Harborough District; HAB Anti-Bullying and Mental Health charity in Market Harborough, 1st Kibworth Scouts, Market Harborough Drama Society, South Leicestershire Litter Wombles, Lutterworth Volunteer Centre and Scraptoft Joggers.

The winners  have been announced by Mike Kapur, the Lord-Lieutenant of Leicestershire who said: “I would like to congratulate all the award winners and nominees.

“In recent times, we have experienced unprecedented and extraordinarily difficult times and yet throughout, it has been wonderful to see schools, businesses, volunteer and community groups across the city and county have remained unwavering in their commitment to making a big difference in their local communities.

“I’m delighted to shine a spotlight on the outstanding work that takes place and would like to thank everyone who took the time to make a nomination.”

Each award winner will be presented with their award by either the Lord-Lieutenant or one of his Deputy Lieutenants later in the year.

Cllr Phil King, Leader of Harborough District Council, is delighted to see local groups and organisations recognised:

HFM’s Nick Shaw said: “We are delighted and honoured to have been given this award during this special year.

“Lots of hard work goes into making the radio station what it is, especially from our dedicated team of volunteers, so this award goes to everyone involved.”
