Pupils’ Jubilee Artwork Goes On Show In Market Harborough

Artwork by schoolchildren from across Harborough has gone on display to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
The collection has been reproduced on pull-up banners and is on show at Harborough Market.

Harborough District Council launched the Jubilee Art Project as one way to create a lasting legacy of Her Majesty’s 70-year reign.
Pupils who have taken part in the project were from Robert Smyth Academy, Welland Park Academy and Brooke House College in Market Harborough, Leicester Grammar School in Great Glen, Kibworth Mead Academy, Lady Byron School in Fleckney, Lutterworth College, as well as youngsters from the Harborough District Children and Young People’s Charity.
Local record label, Somewhere Records, also produced art and created a piece of music encapsulating sounds from the 1960s era which will be available to hear online via a QR code on the relevant banner.
Each group was allocated a decade on which to focus their curation, resulting in some incredibly creative and diverse interpretations of the brief, each one celebrating a significant era since The Queen’s Accession on 6 February 1952, herself a young person at the time, aged just 25.
