School Unveils Plan For Dedicated Base For Youngsters With Additional Needs

Robert Smyth Academy in Market Harborough has unveiled plans to create dedicated space for youngsters with additional educational needs.

The school wants to build a new modular building for the Communication and Interaction Resource Base, so it can provide places for pupils with conditions like autism.

It would allow 15 children with such needs to enroll at the Academy, instead of having to travel elsewhere, due to a lack of such provision in Market Harborough currently.

If granted planning permission, the development would replace an aging building on the Burnmill Road site, which would be demolished along with the former caretaker’s house.

The development is part of plans totaling £3.5m to improve facilities at the school.
