Robins Take Up Residence At B&M Garden Centre

A pair of Robins have taken up residence on a shelf at the B&M store in Market Harborough.

The birds have built a nest among pots of grasses in the outside Garden Centre area, which has been cordoned off to ensure they are not disturbed before eggs hatch.

Staff say shoppers are being incredibly respectful of the feathered visitors, with the arrival of the babies imminent.

A spokesperson for B&M told Hfm: “They were found by one of our Garden Centre colleagues and they immediately cordoned off the nest and the area around it to prevent any disturbance.

“The public have been incredibly respectful of the Robins, and the store team have been keeping a watchful eye on them to ensure they’re not disturbed.

“According to the store team, they’ve had blackbirds nesting in those grasses before, so they seem to like those grasses for a safe place to nest and rear their young.

“Luckily it’s in the garden centre, so the racking is able to stay out in the evening’s without the need to be moved.

“Robins nest for around 5-6 weeks, so it’s likely the little ones will be ready to leave in a couple of weeks.”
