Big Increase In Thefts Of Trailers From Rural Parts Of Harborough

A big increase in the thefts of trailers across the Hfm region has prompted Police to produce stickers for owners to display on the back of them.
They encourage officers to stop any vehicle seen towing them between 10pm and 5am, as it’s likely they would have been stolen.
The reflective stickers can be fitted to the back of trailers with a heat gun.

Thieves have been targeting farms and rural locations late at night to steal trailers, including those used to transport livestock, often driving through fields and smashing through fences to get to them.
Police have stepped up patrols in rural areas and are encouraging owners to do what they can to prevent such thefts.
It’s thought the increase in thefts could be linked to a shortage in the availability of new trailers.
