New Roundabout Opens At A6 Accident Blackspot

Written by on 13th December 2021

A new roundabout has opened to traffic on the A6 near Market Harborough aimed at boosting road safety.

There have been campaigns for several years to improve the junction with Kettering Road at Clack Hill, which was seen as an accident blackspot because of the number of crashes there.

Last year over 500 people signed a petition call for improvements.

The roundabout was a condition of planning permission being granted for a large new housing estate off Clack Hill and its construction has been completed ahead of schedule by contractors working for Davidsons Homes.

Southbound A6 traffic was banned from turning into Kettering Road a few years ago, but drivers heading towards Desborough had to cross the path of on-coming traffic to get out of Kettering Road.

Harborough District Councillor Phil Knowles has welcomed the opening of the roundabout:

Another new roundabout has been built on Kettering Road at the entrance to the new estate.
