Two refugee families from Afghanistan are set to arrive in the Harborough District towards the end of next month.
The District Council is supporting a government-funded resettlement scheme for the families of people who worked with British forces, before the withdrawal of troops.
It will see housing provided for them and other support offered.
The Council’s Cabinet endorsed the move at a meeting last night – Council leader Phil King spoke at the meeting:
The Council is also backing a government launched scheme for offers of homes to accommodate people arriving from Afghanistan.
The housing portal has been created to allow the government to collect and process offers from property owners, organisations or companies.
