Local foodbanks appeal for continued support

With the easing of restrictions around COVID-19 meaning more people from the HFM area are heading off on holiday, local food banks have reported a worrying drop in donations.

They say shelves in Market Harborough, Kibworth, Lutterworth and other South Leicestershire foodbanks are beginning to empty.

At the same time, demand for them is starting to increase again – with the school holidays often being a very challenging time for families on
low incomes, when their children miss out on free school meals.

Liz Mills, of Market Harborough’s Jubilee Foodbank, is again appealing to those who can afford it, or have longlife or tinned food they don’t
need, to consider making a donation via the collection points in town.
