Plans for The Harborough Crochet Christmas Tree
Written by HFM on 22nd July 2021
Whilst the festive season may still be months away, work has already begun to create The Harborough Crochet Christmas Tree!
When three members of a local Women’s Institute heard about a twenty foot tall Christmas tree in Trivento in Italy, made from crocheted
“granny squares” on a large cone, they decided Market Harborough should have one, too!
The trio – Clare Farquhar, Carmen Harrington and Fiona Maxwell-Thompson – who all love to crochet – have since gathered huge local support via a dedicated Facebook group and reached an agreement to put it up outside Saint Dionysius’ Church this December.
They’ll also be raising funds for the HomeStart South Leicestershire charity along the way.
If you’d like to have a go at crocheting some of the fabric squares yourself, you’re invited to find out more and get in touch via
