Written by on 19th July 2021

A woman was taken to hospital to be treated for burns after a fire caused major damage to a house in Desborough.

The kitchen of the property in Whitehill Road was gutted by the blaze, caused by a chip pan which was left unattended and then ignited.

Fire crews from Desborough and Rothwell were called to deal with the incident just before midnight on Saturday.

Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service say the occupier, in her 70s, suffered slight burns.

Firefighters are urging people not to use chip pans because of the danger they pose.
