Kettering Road Traffic Lights To Be Made Permanent

Temporary traffic lights at the railway bridge on Kettering Road in Little Bowden will be made permanent.
The response to a public consultation was overwhelmingly in favour of the move, together with keeping a wider cycling lane.
Both were introduced by Leicestershire County Council last year to boost safety, initially on a temporarily basis, using funding from the Department for Transport to help support safer walking and cycling during the Covid-19 lockdown.
Kettering Road will be shut either side of the bridge for 12 days from July the 12th, to allow for the upgrade of the lights.
Cllr Ozzy O’Shea cabinet member for Highways and Transport said: “I am absolutely delighted that the response to the consultation has been overwhelmingly in favour of this scheme becoming permanent.
“We only received two objections.
“If we had received strong opposition to this scheme the work would not have gone ahead.
“There are real benefits to this scheme and I am pleased that residents in Market Harborough are supporting us in making roads safer for motorists, cyclists and pedestrians.”
