Police, who are studying CCTV footage in a bid to find those responsible, are linking the damage with a number of other incidents of criminal damage in St Mary’s Place late last night, or early this morning.

Harborough In Bloom volunteers, who have been left upset and disheartened by what happened, have re-planted the displays today.

Harborough District councillor Phil Knowles told Hfm he is appalled:

The damage to the floral displays comes after plants were stolen from displays earlier this month.

Simon Whelband is Cabinet Member for Community Safety at Harborough District Council:

A spokesperson for Leicestershire Police told Hfm : “Officers are making further enquiries following a number of incidents of criminal damage in Harborough which they suspect are linked.

“The damage is reported to have occurred overnight when plant pots, signs and bins have been pushed over along St Mary’s Place. Glass was also found smashed along the route.

“Officers are making further enquiries into the reports which will include reviewing nearby council and business CCTV.”

Anyone who may have any information about the damage, can contact police on 101 quoting 21*348449.
