Parking Restrictions Imposed Over Road Safety Concerns

Written by on 1st June 2021

An ’emergency’ no parking restriction has come into force in part of Great Bowden, following road safety concerns.

It affects one side of Main Street, between Gunnsbrook Close and the The Green, and part of Langton Road.

The urgent action, by highway bosses at Leicestershire County Council, follows complaints from villagers about parked cars near the Red Lion pub, which have been causing a hazard for drivers and pedestrians.

The restriction is in place for 21 days.

Councillor Ozzy O’Shea, cabinet member for highways and transport, said: “We have listened to the concerns raised by residents and the parish council about the safety issues being caused by vehicles parking on Main Street, Great Bowden and have implemented an immediate suspension on parking to help address the situation.

“We will continue to work with the district council and parish council to resolve these issues and urge drivers to be considerate when parking.”
