Polling Stations Open For Local Elections

Polling stations have opened for today’s local elections.

There are County Council elections in Leicestershire and Unitary Authority polls in Northants, as well as Police and Crime Commissioner ballots in both counties.

A by-election is also taking place in the Little Bowden Ward to elect a new councillor onto Harborough District Council and villagers in Fleckney and Husbands Bosworth are voting on their Neighbourhood Plans.

Polling stations are in some unusual venues across the Hfm Region, with churches, village halls and even The Crown pub in Tur Langton being used instead of schools wherever possible, to stop disruption to pupils, who would normally have to have the day off.

Polling stations are open until 10pm and people are asked to take their own pen or pencil with them – one of a number of safety measures in place because of the pandemic.
