Efforts Stepped Up To Tackle ‘County Lines’ Drug Dealing In Market Harborough

Police are stepping up efforts to disrupt ‘County Lines’ drug dealing in Market Harborough.

Officers from the Leicestershire force are teaming up with British Transport Police to target those using trains to get drugs into the town, and protect those being exploited to transport them.

‘County Lines’ is where illegal drugs are transported from larger town and cities, usually by children or vulnerable people, coerced into it by gangs.

A flat in Market Harborough, taken over by a drugs gang earlier this year, has also been shut down by Police, which removed one such ‘county line’.

Sergeant Pete Jelbert from Market Harborough Police station spoke to Hfm:

Leicestershire Police say there are currently 18 active County Lines operating across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland with 12 affecting the Leicestershire area.
