Vandals Wreck New Trees At Little Bowden Recreation Ground

Written by on 22nd March 2021

Vandals have destroyed seven newly-planted trees at Little Bowden Recreation Ground.

They snapped them in half and cut support straps holding them up, late on Saturday or during the early hours of Sunday.

The trees had only been there a couple of weeks, after being planted by Harborough District Council.

Ward councillor Peter James told Hfm he and local residents are appalled at the damage:

Police are investigating the damage and say enquires are continuing.

Officers are appealing for information about who was responsible – if you can help call 101, quoting crime number 21*159275.

A spokesperson for Harborough District Council told Hfm: “The vandalism of these trees is very saddening.

“Our Covid marshalls do patrol the parks regularly but unfortunately they cannot be there 24/7.

“We are investigating and will be looking at CCTV coverage in the area and working with police, who will be doing house-to-house enquiries.

“We urge residents to contact police on 101 if they have information about this incident, or if they see vandalism taking place.”
