Harborough School Principal Welcomes Teachers Deciding Exam Results

The Principal of Robert Smyth Academy in Market Harborough has welcomed the decision GCSE and A-level results will be decided by teachers this year – instead of the government’s controversial algorithm used last summer.

They will take into account mock exams, coursework, essays and in-class tests.

Education Secretary Gavin Williamson insists the new measures are fair this Summer, after exams were cancelled again due to the pandemic.

There was controversy last year when thousands of papers were downgraded nationwide, before the computer process was eventually scrapped.
