‘Adam’s Mile’ Offically Recognised As Safe Footpath

An off-road route between Market Harborough and Lubenham, created in memory of a teenager, has been officially recognised as a footpath.

The inclusion on the Ordnance Survey map is a significant milestone for the family of Adam Mugridge, from Lubenham, who have been campaigning for the safe path, along the old railway line, since the 13-year-old was killed in 2006, when he fell into the path of a lorry, while cycling to Welland Park School.

Signs have now gone up directing people to the path, called ‘Adam’s Mile’ and marker posts installed along some of it.

Over £100,000 has been raised to help create it, after the ‘Adam’S’mile’ charity was set-‘up, and his family are continuing to push to get the path recognised as a dual purpose walking and cycling route.

The campaign has not been easy, with various hold-ups because of an objection by a landowner.
