Written by on 11th August 2020

The Mercado Lounge in Market Harborough has reopened after being forced to shut temporarily last week when a chef testing positive for coronavirus.

Bosses at the café bar say the venue has been thoroughly cleaned and results of other staff tested for Covid-19 have so far all come back negative and those awaiting theirs remain off work.

The male chef, who is recovering well, is self-isolating, together with kitchen staff who came into close contact with him.

Specialists were drafted in to clean the Abbey Street venue with anti-viral treatment.

A statement to customers from the Mercado Lounge reads: “Thank you so much everyone for all your lovely comments and ongoing support during such an unprecedented time. We will continue to stay alert and keep everyone safe.

“The chef that tested positive is still doing well and thanks you for all the well wishes and he can’t wait to fully recover so that he can return to work.

“We look forward to welcoming you back.”
