Police investigating an allegation of sexual assault on a woman in Market Harborough say enquiries have established it did not take place in the Great Bowden Road area.

Officers also say there is no on-going risk to the public.

The graveyard of the disused St Mary in Arden Church on Great Bowden Road was cordoned off as part of the investigation, which was launched yesterday morning.

A Leicestershire Police spokesperson said: “Officers have been carrying out further enquiries after an allegation of sexual assault was reported to the force yesterday morning (Tuesday 28 July).

“The investigation has now established that the offence did not occur in the Great Bowden Road area of Market Harborough.

“We’d like to thank the local community for their support while those enquiries were carried out and also reassure people that there is no ongoing risk to the public.”
