Church Street remains closed to traffic
Traders have issued a new plea for roads in Market Harborough town centre to be re-opened to traffic.
Some business owners on Church Street and Adam and Eve Street say the move is having a severe impact on trade.
The measures were implemented by Harborough Council to help with social distancing and safe queuing when more shops were allowed to re-open at the start of the month.
It has launched a survey to get people’s views as it continues to review the closures.
The Artisan Butcher shop is within the closure zone in Church Square – it has continued to trade during the lock-down, but owner Terry Dyer says trade has dropped by 25% since the roads closed.
He told Hfm he is aware of two businesses who will have no alternative but to close permanently in the next few weeks. the closures continue:
Cllr Phil King, Leader of Harborough District Council said: “We’ve introduced measures which have been in place now for a number of weeks and we would like people’s views on what they feel is working and what perhaps isn’t working. This feedback, along with footfall counters and other data, can ensure any temporary measures are based on evidence as well as compliance with Government policy to combat the virus.”

The closing date for feedback is Tuesday 28 July at 5pm.
