Land owners are seeking a High Court injunction to evict a group of travellers who have set up camp near a new housing estate in Market Harborough.

A spokeswoman for the builders’ consortium which owns the land said the group was trespassing:

“This is a case of civil trespass.

“We have spoken to the local police about it.

“We are going to the High Court to get an injunction to force this group of travellers to get off our land and move on as soon as possible.”

A spokeswoman for Leicestershire County Council said: “The Multi Agency Travellers Unit are aware of the group in Market Harborough however as the land is privately owned it is the landowners responsibility to manage any action.”
