Coronavirus: Monday’s Local Updates

A support group set-up on Facebook for people in Market Harborough during the Coronavirus pandemic is proving an invaluable tool.

Over 2,500 people have now joined, including Harborough MP Neil O’Brien, who is able to clarify and answer questions about the current government advice.

People are posting offers of help for others – activities for children – at-home exercise ideas amongst lots of other helpful things.

Random acts of kindness continue to take place locally at this current time.

The Just So Italian delicatessen in Adam and Eve Street has delivered loads of pastries to front-line staff at Leicester General and Kettering General Hospitals.

They were left over after the shop temporarily shut last week and staff are set to make similar donations this week.

Market Harborough’s Beerhouse is doing its bit to keep spirits up in these uncertain times by holding its regular Monday night quiz online.

After the cancellation of the Beerhouse quiz because of the coronavirus precautions, regular quiz master Dave Hall decided to organise a video version to give regular quizzers something to look forward to while social distancing.

The video quiz is being held every Monday evening from 7:45 pm.

Dave said: “With a picture round, a music round and several themed general knowledge rounds, it takes about two hours. You can pour yourself a drink and have fun with your friends.”

To take part, all you need to do is download Zoom and buy an entry for just £2.50 each at www.pubquiznight.co.uk – you can organise a team and communicate via video or instant messenger.
