Carphone Warehouse on The Square

The Carphone Warehouse in Market Harborough is to close.

The shop on The Square is one of 531 to be shut nationwide at the start of April, with the loss of 2,900 jobs.

Its parent company Dixons Carphone says all of its standalone stores are closing so it can concentrate on the branches inside Currys PCWorld stores, because of changes in the way customers buy technology.

It is expected that 40% of employees will be able to get new roles within the company.
