Safety Review To Take Place At Clack Hill

A safety review is to take place at a notorious accident blackspot just outside Market Harborough after another serious crash.

The collision a week ago on the A6, at the junction with Kettering Road at Clack Hill, left one driver with serious injuries.

It was the latest to have happened at the junction in the past year and means the accident rate is now at a level to trigger the need for further investigation.

Leicestershire County Council says the review will look at identifying any possible measures to improve safety.

That could include stopping drivers being able to turn right out of Kettering Road onto the A6, where they have to cross over the path of fast traffic.

A Council spokesman told Hfm: “We’re sorry to hear of the recent accident which has now raised the incident rate at the location which will now trigger further investigation of the junction.

“Once we’ve received the information from the police, we’ll look at identifying any possible measures to improve safety, and that may include a ban on turning right out of Kettering Road.

“A ban on right turns into Kettering Road was introduced in 2014 and that has reduced the number of accidents at the location.”

In the longer term, a roundabout will be built at the location as part of a new homes development near-by.
