The idea to re-open the railway between Market Harborough and Northampton could be given a boost thanks to a new government fund.
It’s been announced today that £500m is being made available to investigate and develop plans to reinstate old lines across the country.
Network Rail is continuing to conduct a feasibility study into re-opening the 14 mile route, which shut in 1981, and was then converted into the Brampton Valley Way.
Transport Secretary Grant Shapps – who has already thrown his weight behind the idea – is encouraging MPs, Councils and Community Groups to get involved in the process.
