Renewed Warning Over Fake Police Calls
Written by HFM News on 23rd January 2020
More pensioners locally have been targeted by fraudsters posing as Police officers.
It has led to a new warning for people to be on-guard, after the tricksters phoned them saying they needed to withdraw cash from their bank accounts, claiming it could be made-up of counterfeit notes, which needed checking.
They were told the money would then be collected by courier from their home and taken to the Police station.

Luckily the residents became suspicious and didn’t hand over any money.
Last month two people did fall victim to the scam in Market Harborough and Great Easton and had thousands of pounds stolen.
