Roundabout For Accident Blackspot

Written by on 23rd January 2020

A roundabout is to be built at an accident blackspot on the outskirts of Market Harborough.

It will go up on the A6 Harborough Road at the Kettering Road junction at Clack Hill.

There are regular crashes at the location, with drivers turning right out of Kettering Road having to cross the carriageway.

A crash at the junction last year

Traffic was banned from turning right from the A6 a few years ago in a bid to make the turn safer.

The safety boost will come when construction work begins on 600 new homes – they will be built on 88 acres of fields off Kettering Road, stretching towards Braybrooke, together with a primary school, doctors surgery and community centre.

There will also be a new roundabout at the entrance to the site off Kettering Road.

Initially traffic lights had been considered for both locations but now details of the roundabouts have been submitted to Harborough Council, after planning permission for the housing development was granted last year.
