A Green Plaque has been unveiled at the former home of a clergyman and pioneering astronomer in South Kilworth.

The plaque was unveiled at a ceremony in South Kilworth

It has gone up at the Old Rectory as a tribute to the Revd Dr William Pearson, who became Rector of South Kilworth in 1817 and lived there from 1821 until his death in 1847.

During his time in the village he carried out decades of astronomical observations and helped set up the world-famous Royal Astronomical Society.
